Who We Are
Hurdle is a contemporary and innovative service provider, working solely with people with a disability funded with supports from the National Disability Insurance Agency. Hurdle differs from other organisations with their structure of supports. We believe that all people, no matter their disability, have the same rights and should be given the same opportunities to explore learning and work in the community.
Employment plays a pivotal role in defining an individual’s quality of life, and we believe that people with disability have the same rights to work in a job they want and be given the same opportunity as others, to develop their skills and achieve their goals.
Our social enterprise is much more than just a job – employees will learn new skills, make friends, belong to a community, and feel as they are contributing to society. By supporting this enterprise, it allows employees to make meaningful contributions to the workforce and have independence in a job that they can be proud of.
Our social enterprise provides meaningful paid employment to people with disabilities while promoting community awareness of the need to provide work opportunities that are inclusive and diverse to people with disabilities.
Our mission is to tackle unemployment and social exclusion by enabling people with a disability to achieve their employment goals and aspirations through our supportive work and learning services.
Our Vision is for an inclusive community, where people with a disability are empowered and supported to reach their employment goals and aspirations.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands where Hurdle now stands, pay respect to
their Elders – past, present and emerging – and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Hurdle community.
